ACT section scores and composite in one tool

Convert English, Math, Reading, and Science raw corrects into estimated 1–36 scores, total a composite, and optionally include Writing for an ELA score.

Official-style composite math

Composite is the rounded average of the four multiple-choice sections. STEM averages Math and Science; ELA averages English, Reading, and Writing when Writing is entered.

Superscore across sittings

Enter two ACT dates and keep the best English, Math, Reading, and Science — matching how many colleges superscore the ACT.

Practice curves, not official keys

Raw-to-scale tables are approximate study conversions. Official ACT equating varies by form, so treat raw-mode results as estimates.

Frequently asked questions

Add your English, Math, Reading, and Science scores (each 1–36), divide by 4, and round to the nearest whole number. That rounded average is your ACT composite.

No. The optional Writing score (2–12) does not affect the 1–36 composite. It is used for the ELA score when provided.

STEM is the rounded average of Math and Science. ELA is the rounded average of English, Reading, and Writing when a Writing score is available.

English has 75 questions, Math 60, Reading 40, and Science 40. This calculator’s raw mode uses those maxima with approximate conversion curves.

A superscore combines your highest section scores from different test dates into a new composite. Confirm each college’s superscore policy before relying on it.

Scaled and superscore modes use your entered 1–36 scores directly. Raw mode uses approximate practice curves — not an official ACT scoring key.
