What is cursed text?

Cursed text (also called Zalgo text) stacks Unicode combining marks on normal letters so the result looks glitched, spooky, or chaotic — perfect for memes, usernames, bios, and horror-themed posts.

How this generator works

Type any phrase, pick an intensity (Mild → Nightmare), choose whether marks appear above, through, or below each character, then press Generate. Copy the output and paste it anywhere Unicode is supported.

Dial the chaos

Mild keeps text mostly readable. Medium is the classic meme look. Heavy and Nightmare pile on marks for maximum corruption — some apps may truncate very dense strings.

Where it works best

Most modern browsers, Discord, Twitter/X, and many chat apps render cursed text. Older systems or strict plain-text fields may strip combining characters.

Frequently asked questions

It turns ordinary words into glitchy “cursed” or Zalgo-style text by attaching invisible Unicode combining marks above, through, and below each letter.

Yes — “cursed text” is the popular name for Zalgo-style corrupted Unicode. This tool generates that look with adjustable intensity.

Marks are chosen randomly from a large combining-character set. Press Generate again for a fresh glitch of the same input and settings.

Often yes, but platforms differ. Some limit special characters or truncate long combining sequences. Try Mild or Medium if a site rejects Nightmare output.

Generation runs entirely in your browser. CalcGen does not upload your input to a server for this tool.

Clear the field and type again, or press Reset to restore the sample phrase and default settings. Pasting cursed text elsewhere usually cannot be “decoded” perfectly once marks are applied.
